Malaysian Local Market
Edged lower on lack of fresh leads: Underpinned by firm oil prices, the FBM KLCI moved in a trading range amid buying support of selected blue chips. However, the lack of fresh leads caused the index to subsequently ease below 1,740 points and close at 1,731 points for a weekly loss of 0.6%.

The FBM EMAS Shariah Index softened by 1.0% to close at 12,759 points for the week. Meanwhile, the FBM Small Cap Index fell by 2.0% over the same period.

The Australian market closed 0.5% higher at 5,890 points for the week.

Investors were also cautious over the quarterly earnings of banks. The Dow edged down by 1.0% to close at 20,453 points while the technology-based Nasdaq closed 1.2% lower at 5,805 points for the week.
